Big Dreams, Kind Hearts, and One Very Professional Monster
This book proves that being a professional is not about fancy jobs or outfits but about showing up with kindness, focus, and a big heart, and Rex makes learning that lesson an absolute joy.
What Can I Do? Let's Become a Professional follows Rex, a curious little monster who wants to understand what it really means to be a professional, so he visits Career Square and meets people from all kinds of jobs, from doctors and teachers to chefs, artists, and coders. What I loved most is how the story gently shows that being professional is not about what you wear or what job you have, but about being kind, prepared, focused, and helpful wherever you are. The lessons feel natural and easy to understand, and the bright illustrations and friendly monster characters kept the pages turning. I enjoyed reading this because it sparked great conversations and reminded me that character matters just as much as career.

Wow—EXCELLENT!
This book is an outstanding introduction to numerous professional careers from a child’s perspective. It covers many familiar careers such as doctors, nurses, veterinarians, police officers, and firefighters, but it also goes further by highlighting roles like teachers, librarians, entrepreneurs, coders, builders, scientists, engineers, and architects.
If you’re looking for a colorful, career-focused book with short, informative passages for each profession, this is it! The content is geared toward children, making the information engaging, accessible, and easy to understand while offering meaningful insight into a wide range of career paths.
I LOVED THIS BOOK SO SO MUCH!! This is what I wanted to help talk with my kids. This helps show not only professions but what it looks like to role model being a professional. What does it mean and how we are perceived by how we act or present ourselves. I want this is hard copy form!
This book had me smiling from page one and cheering for Rex like he was my own little monster buddy.
I loved how What Can I Do? Let’s Become a Professional makes big ideas feel simple and fun without talking down to kids. Watching Rex bounce around Career Square and learn that being professional means listening, helping, practicing, and being kind honestly felt refreshing. I kept thinking how great this would be for classrooms and bedtime because it teaches real life values in a way that feels playful instead of preachy. If you want a book that helps kids feel confident about who they are and excited about who they can become, this one is a total win. 👏👾
