*The Pizza Shape Book* is a bright, playful introduction to circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, and semicircles. The cat and dog characters are immediately appealing, and putting pizza right in the title is a clever way to make a basic early-learning concept feel more exciting.

The book begins by clearly explaining what each shape is and then connects those shapes to familiar objects, including picture frames, ears, lamps, houses, windows, wheels, clocks, and ice cream cones. I especially appreciated that it explains the difference between a square and a rectangle rather than treating them as interchangeable.

The pizza theme becomes more central as the story continues. The box is a square, the pizza is a circle, half of it is a semicircle, and each slice is a triangle. These real-world connections make the lesson easy to understand and remember. Small jokes, such as mistaking a rectangular piece of ham for a “ham shape,” add humor without distracting from the educational purpose.

The shape glossary at the end is also a nice addition and gives children an opportunity to review what they have learned. This is a great book for young readers! The colors are enough to be entertaining to look at but not too busy that it’s distracting!! The shapes are easy to learn about in this and grouped together well!

Such a fun to get your child interested in shapes. As I read this with my son we discussed the many shapes found in the book as well as those found around our home. I had to laugh when he mentioned the pizza we usually ordered was cut in squares, and not triangles, and that is how he prefers it! I liked that this book only introduced a handful of shapes so that you can start with those and slowly add other shapes into their vocabulary once they master those. Such a fun book about pizza and shapes that would be great for homeschool curriculum.

This is a great way to introduce kids to basic shapes and how shapes are all around us. I also loved how a pizza was used to demonstrate the shapes that were mentioned. I would definitely recommend this book to someone wanting to introduce their kids to more complex ideas about shapes.
