Three Quick Questions for Kat Nouri, Founder and CEO of Stasher

What's wrong with lunch?

I think lunch is the most overlooked mealtime. Whether you're working long days while at home, in an office, or just constantly on-the-go, balancing it all while trying to find inspiration for that mid-day meal can be draining and difficult. And that’s for a meal that should be our most important of the day! Most of us opt for uninspiring options or look to takeout for variety. What I love most about this book is that you can eat healthy, make it easy AND reduce your reliance on single-use plastic containers. I'm thrilled to share my ideas for easy, delicious and creative lunch ideas that are not only good for you, but good for the earth too!

What will readers learn from this cookbook?

I want people to be inspired again during lunch. This book provides options for easy prepping and tips that not only nourish your body but feed your imagination. We have easy-to-prep sandwich, salad, soup and snacks recipes that are super simple and make you look like a four-star chef. And it provides valuable and budget-friendly tips to make your meals (and kitchen) a little more planet-friendly.

What is your go-to favorite lunch?

I love a good salad with all the fixin's. My absolute favorite go-to right now is the baked tofu salad with a miso-sesame vinaigrette. vIt's a perfect warm-weather salad! I also love to pair the salad with the Kuku Sabzi. I make this ahead at the beginning of the week and then store it in my Stasher Stand-Up and it stays fresh for a few days in the fridge.

I think everyone is in a rut when it comes to making lunch currently. I also think we're having to do more meal planning when it comes to trying to get through a week or two before heading out to the store. This book addresses both of those issues in addition to trying to reduce waste. The photos are beautiful and the ingredients are easily found for the most part. Most of the recipes are low maintenance which fall in the time constraints of providing lunch fairly quickly for your family. Some recipes I'm anxious to try: apple streusel bars, spinach-feta frittata sandwiches, and crispy barbecue chickpeas. With a September release, it's a shame this book can't be released and enjoyed sooner.

Thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Let’s face it - right now buying in bulk, making ahead and needing to store leftovers is at the top of everyone’s mind when thinking about food. Using as much as you can of each item, wasting less, storing better and more sustainably is going to help you AND the planet. And eating delish meals while doing so? Win-win!

What a great book! I honestly love everything about it. I love that this book cares about the earth and promotes a no waste lifestyle. I love the simplicity of the recipes and how easy this book makes everything seem. I love that almost every recipe is veg friendly and if it isn't, there are easy veg alternatives. I love the colour palette, the page layout and the pictures are fantastic. I also really like the tips at the end of the book. I can't wait to try some of these recipes!

Thank you to the author for putting together this book of easy and healthy lunches. I am getting tired of the same old lunch everyday and this book has given me a whole bunch of new yummy things to try!

Photos - 5/5 stars this book contains beautiful photos for each recipe. It is helpful for picking out which recipe to make as well as a visual of the end result.
Ease of ingredients - 4/5 stars. Most ingredients could be found at an average store. There may be a few under the chapter called “The Next Level” where the reader may need an ingredient from a bigger grocery store.
Variety - 4/5 There is a nice variety in here. I wish there were a few more recipes.

This was unique - most plant based cook books don’t have recipes with meat, eggs or dairy. This one has a few recipes with these ingredients. Still all recipes are loaded with fruits, veggies and grain - they are the star of the lunches..

Confession time: meal-prepping is not my friend. Just the thought of it makes me feel like I need a nap. This is a lovely cookbook with all sorts of healthy and eco-friendly recipes and plans. Snack recipes? I'm doing well if I remember to put some almonds in my pocket on the way out of the door. I'm just a tiny bit mad at this book for reminding me I can (and should!) do better.

I love and collect cookbooks, and this one is by far one of the best I have seen and read! With beautiful photos, and helpful tips to being more environmentally conscience with handy Eco Tips with every recipe, this book had me taking a mental note of what I already have in my pantry and refrigerator, so that I could begin my meal planning. This cookbook is easy to read, and you probably already have many of the ingredients on hand to begin preparing these dishes immediately! Stasher's proceeds for this book go to the organization No Kid Hungry. This book is a win win all around!

I poured over this book and kept clicking the bookmark button on so many of the recipes! So many great and fresh ideas. I want to start getting into meal planning and this gives really helpful tips and tricks, I especially love the sample meal plan calendar section. My husband and I are trying to become more eco conscious of how and what we eat, and reducing food waste is a key part of that. I found the statistics on food waste listed in the book to be alarming, but also inspiring to
help do our part to reduce food waste. Great to see a book that tackles such an important issue!

This book was just what I needed right now! With our whole family home every single day for all our meals, lunches were getting super boring and I have been so uninspired. This book was just the breath of fresh air I needed for inspiration on new flavors for the family. I love the focus on being waste-free, as well. I have always disliked all the waste that packaged lunches so often create.
From recipes like BBQ roasted chickpeas to orzo with ham and peas, plus salads, soups and more, the variety is great to keep everyone in the family happy.
I was really pleased to discover this cookbook on netgalley, and I was provided a free ARC copy to review.

As a first time mom, I’ve had a difficult time adjusting from taking care of just myself and my husband to being responsible for providing a balanced nutritious meals to my child. What this book offered was not just simple and delicious recipes but also ideas on small tasks that can change your part in leaving a footprint on this world.
I felt the recipes were customizable. The best cook books are the ones that offer the structure of a meal that you can customize yourself and overtime no longer even reach for the book for the details. Let’s Fix Lunch is that kind of a book.

I am a key worker so one thing that concerns me is 'Who is preparing my food?' during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I personally feel that the release date for this book needs to be brought forward. In this current world climate so many people can make such wonderful use from the tips and recipes in 'Lets Fix Lunch'
Topics covered begin with bulk buying, prepping and storage.
Fabulous healthy and inspiring recipes. Along with colourful pictures. These will go along way to replacing the shop brought sandwich with all its cardboard and plastic waste.
The book concludes with handy tips on reducing food and plastic waste.

This book is really pretty and I love the tips for a litter-free lunch. I think that a book that claims to be Planet-Friendly should include much less meat. Lunch especially is a time when people who do not eat vegetarian all the time could be shaping things up and including chicken, beef, and ham in so many of the recipes seems like a missed opportunity. I'm a vegetarian and based on the cover and the subtitle, I expected this book to have much more to offer me.

Author Kat Nouri, entrepreneur of the reusable bags called Stasher, has cumulated various hot and cold lunch recipes that you can savor AND save the planet. Nouri has divided up the recipes into the following chapters: On-the-Go Snacks, Sauces and Condiments, Soups and Salads, Sandwiches, and Grains and Pastas. Recipes are also labeled with a symbol for vegetarian, freezable, school-lunch friendly (aka for the kiddos), make ahead, and building blocks (rice and pasta bases that are then gussied up for your tastebuds to enjoy) as applicable. Lastly, Nouri has included simple ways that you can reduce waste at home. For this picky eater, I found several recipes that pique my interest, but I'm even more interested in purchasing some of Nouri's Stasher bags. An unlikely purchase for libraries where green living isn't a priority.

This book makes going low waste abso freakfing lutely exciting.

Even more importantly than her simple and accessible tips on reducing food-related waste, the author appealed to me with the visually pleasing photographs full of vibrant colors and textures, both when it comes to prepared recipes and low waste utensils. Most of the recipes have a handy "eco tip" on top of the page, which are actually really surprising and useful. I will certainly be putting them into practice.

Unfortunately, however, the recipes let me down a little. First, the cover specifies that the recipes are plant-friendly, which leads me to the assumption that this is a vegan or vegetarian cookbook. It isn't, so this should be clearer from the get go. Second, many of the recipes require an oven and since I'm a student, I don't have one. Finally, there wasn't really anything that exciting that I thought I had to prepare and eat immediately. For example, there is a whole section on sandwiches, which I already eat every day anyway.

Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this book as a present for someone who wants to / you want them to (wink, wink) go more eco.

Such a great little cookbook. The recipes are 'planet-friendly' which shouldn't be confused with 'plant-friendly' but many of the recipes are plant based. The photos are really beautiful and I found all the recipes to be super simple, with a few easily found ingredients. There are also tips for buying bulk and freezing. While it's clearly a product advertisement for the author, I didn't mind it at all, as the content is really solid and the product looks interesting. .

This is a cookbook for people who want to save the earth, one recipe at a time. The recipes are Eco-friendly and produce no waste for the trash. There is a chapter for buying food in bulk and ways to reduce plastic use and food waste. The recipes are easy to follow and are illustrated with colorful tasteful photos. If you are a cookbook collector this would be one for your collection but I don't see myself buying. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is a lovely book! I am a big Stasher fan to begin with so this was a treat to browse through and read. Gorgeous photos, well thought out recipes (can't wait to try the Apple Struesel!) and great tips on how you can reduce waste. I will most likely buy this as a hardcopy as it's a beautiful book that I would like on my shelf to reference.

I really enjoyed the simplicity and healthiness of this cookbook. I can't wait to try to Crispy BBQ Chickpeas or the white bean hummus. I don't have kids, but since I am working from home right now, this book is definitely going to help with planning lunches and executing them with minimal effort. I also liked the creativity behind some of the choices. Will definitely be adding this book to my meal rotation.

If you’re out to save the planet, and still eat lunch, you’ll want to pick up Kat Nouri’s cookbook, Let's Fix Lunch!: Enjoy Delicious, Planet-Friendly Meals at Work, School, or On the Go. Even if you aren’t on a mission to fix the planet, but still want to eat lunch, you may still want to pick up this cookbook. Sometimes it’s hard to think of something good for lunch, or good to put in children’s lunches, or prepare lunch for the office, and Nouri has come up with some very good and very tasty ideas. Although the recipes are mostly vegetarian, she has included plenty of chicken dishes and even an excellent roast beef sandwich.

The book includes side dishes that will appeal to everyone, and lots of dishes using chick peas, beans (the The White Bean Hummus is delicious), and tofu if you are into that. There are soups, lots of salads (Yum!), main dishes, and wraps. If you don’t purchase the book for any other reason, the recipe for Balsamic Caramelized Onions makes it worth it.

While there isn’t a photograph of each dish, there are enough to insure readers that someone has prepared these dishes and they are worth preparing. It would be nice to have more, but some of the recipes are good enough that it will make it worth having this cookbook anyway.

Saving the planet – climate change – are big right now, and this book includes plenty of hints and ways to do it without too much effort.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This was such an accessible and easy lunch cookbook. It's hard to find good lunch recipes, as cookbooks in general are usually focused on dinner and baking. All the recipes in this book were unique and flavorful, but most importantly, good for beginner cooks or meal=preppers.

Icons are used throughout that signify things like if you should make the meal ahead of time, if it's freezable, or if it makes for a good school lunch. Lots of these recipes would be a great way to introduce your kids to a more expanded palette beyond peanut butter and jelly or turkey sandwiches. There's tips on how to reduce your waste as a result of cooking and eating too.

The building blocks section is actually my favorite part of the book because it reframes how easy and useful meal-prepping for the week can actually be. Highly recommend this cookbook looking to delve into the lunch category of eating.

Let’s Fix Lunch! Is a beautifully illustrated book, filled with on the go recipes. The illustration are the first thing I look for in a cookbook, and it sold me. There is a strong undercurrent of being environmentally friendly throughout. The author takes note to mark if things are vegetarian, kid friendly, make ahead and freezable. This is helpful for anyone on the go. Prep lists and example meal place was nice.

One things I would love to have seen is a few other common allergy notations or substitutions. Some of the environmental tips at the end of the book are obvious, like ‘grow your own herbs’. I noticed that the book was written in partnership with Stasher and their branded bags. By the end of the book it started to feel like a commercial. The branded mention of the bags on every recipe is not necessary, especially when you have the gorgeous imagery to sell the product. Overall this would make a great addition to anyone’s cookbook shelf.

I enjoy a cookbook that is well organized. This cookbooks has recipes labeled for make again and building block labels, along with school lunch friendly and freezable. The layout is beautiful and the pictures are stunning. I live in the Midwest, so sometimes cookbooks and our available produce doesn't jive. I was happy with the ingredients in these recipes not to far out there. I also really appreciated her reduce waste chapters and ideas.

There are some tasty-looking recipes in this book. I wanted to like the overall book more than I did, but on the whole I'd say I'm looking for options to make lunch simpler, not more complicated. Making my own peanut butter or pickles, and many recipes call for ingredients that I would have to buy specifically for that dish. It looks really lovely but I think I'm not quite the target audience.

Special thanks to Chronicle Books for providing our copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.

I've recently discovered Stasher bags & I love them. We've tried to make a real effort to decrease our plastic consumption.

I have two kids, ages 8 & 11. They won't eat any of the food featured in this book. DANG IT!

That being said, my husband & I would! The food photography is beautiful & the recipes are simple. I do like the meal prep at the beginning of the book. I wish there were a few more tips on how, when & the best way to use your Stasher bags.

I think this would be a great book for health-conscious young adults who are learning to cook.

Let's Fix Lunch is a wonderful cookbook for environmentally conscious people. It contains recipes that are healthy, easy and easily packed in Eco Friendly packaging. This cookbook has tips on reducing waste, reusable utensils, meal prep ideas etc. The Apple Streusel Bars sound delicious! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my digital copy.

A beautiful cookbook for planning lunches! Whole, healthy ingredients are emphasized in these recipes. Some were a little fussy for me in terms of ingredients, but they were very doable. I especially loved the pages that give you lunch building block ideas. This is especially easy to reference when meal planning. I wish this book had more recipes, especially ones for picky eaters!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

This book is nice and well organized and has recipes for pre-packed lunch. I don't work but I can use some ideas for my kids lunchbox. There are snacks recipes, sauces, soups and salads, sandwiches and grain and pastas recipes. Honestly, there are only a few recipes that I would actually make and I wouldn't use the other 70% of the recipes. I like the waste-free tips at the end.

This is a great cookbook! I love that the recipes are focused on lunch because I can’t always figure out what I want for lunches. I also loved the eco friendly tips!

I absolutely love Stasher bags. For the longest time, I was sewing my own reusable lunch bags which, as you can imagine, were a pain because they had to be washed constantly. Stasher bags are so incredibly convenient - you can store them in your purse with confidence and they are even freezer friendly. If you don't already own some, I highly recommend getting a few to accompany this cookbook.

All of the pictures are absolutely stunning and make this the perfect kitchen companion for a modern day kitchen. There is a small chapter on the "building blocks" of meal prepping to help lead to less food waste and decrease overall time spent on cooking. It gives you a week sample of what you could prep on Sunday and what all it would yield throughout the week. Several recipes in the cookbook have the icon "building blocks" signifying they can be prepped and have multiple uses. Other icons include: vegetarian, freezable, school-lunch friendly, and make ahead.

The recipes have a simple format and almost all include a photograph. Each recipe also includes a small eco tip that is great for cutting down on food waste. Most of the ingredients used throughout the book are common and readily available at the grocery store. However, the recipes are rather ordinary and nothing stood out for me. It also doesn't go into too much depth about making things from scratch, a concept that a litter-free lifestyle relies on heavily. The sandwich chapter was the most disappointing. It calls for slices of whole wheat bread, focaccia, ciabatta rolls, etc. All of which are almost always in single use pre-packaged plastic, not to mention a little hard to find in at a regular grocer. But all of the recipes are easy and quick to prepare - something everyone wants when it comes to preparing lunch. The "Litter-Free Life" chapter at the end was a nice touch. It expands on waste-free tips for at home, gift giving, out & about, and travel.

While I personally wouldn't purchase this cookbook, I can think of several people within my social circle that would love it. This would be great as a house warming gift when paired with Stasher bags, reusable produce bags, etc.

This is a great cookbook! I love that the focus is on lunch, as I find lunch is the hardest meal to find inspiration for (and therefore also the easiest to eat while out and about), not to mention the fact that it produces the most waste. Speaking of, I loved the research that went into this book about food waste, as well as the eco-tips provided for almost every recipe and the tips for eco-living in all aspects of your life featured at the end of the book. While I do usually like recipes to include the estimated cooking time, these recipes seem fairly straight-forward and easy to make on a school night after dinner. I definitely plan to try out a few of these recipes to spice up my lunch options in the coming weeks! Finally, this cookbook is beautifully put together and I love the photos! Definitely one I plan to add to my collection when it comes out in September!

This is an good looking book. The cover is what first caught my eye. And I have to admit, covers are a big part of the appeal for me. I strongly dislike cartoon covers on books that are not about cartoons or for that age group.

Now for the content and organization. The organization is wonderful. The book starts off with a section that explains all the basics for this type of meal preparation. For younger couples dealing with the pressures of work and family, this is wonderful. There are a number of building block items that can be quickly mixed and matched to make up lunch.

I wish I had something like this when I was younger and dealing with all that. Nicely written, and well thought out!

The first thing that caught my eye with this book was the “litter-free lunches” chapter. How wonderful is that concept! The Cobb Salad with Chicken and Avocado dressing will be my lunch tomorrow. Every recipe is laid out nicely with how many portions, if it’s school friendly/freezer safe etc, and with easy to follow directions.

I aboslutely loved this combined concept for this book. Part cookbook, part environmentally concious tips for the concerned citizen, Let's Fix Lunch combines it's efforts to both help the environment, as well as provide delicious lunch recipes. The idea behind focusing on lunch recipes is that many people order take out for lunch and that causes a lot of pollution with the wrappers, and plastic cutlery and such, so making your own lunches is healthier for you and the environment. The cookbook makes it easy to want to make your own lunch with fantastic recipes. I was surprised but well pleased to even find a recipe with Persian roots in this eccletic book. At the end of the book there is also a nice little bonus section that lists a bunch of different ways you can further reduce your carbon footprint in many different ways. I recommend this book to anyone looking to take better care of the environment, or who just wants some fantastic new and different recipes for lunches.

I really enjoy this cookbook — I love the pictures and the recipes themselves are great lunch ideas. I also truly love the focus on waste free!

Great book both to get some lunch and snacks ideas and give you tips on reducing your waste and becoming a packaging-free luncher.
Recipes are easy to follow and mosty include ingredients which are easy to source. This isn't about particularly inventive or new recipes, but rather about how to put known dishes into a lunch or a lunch box, how to make some in advance, replace ingredients for more environmentally friendly ones (thinking of almonds and almond milk for example) and being more conscious in what you eat.
Most of the snack recipes are vegetarian, which is great, but when it comes to salads and sandwiches half the recipes contain meat (mostly chicken, one beef, one tuna, one salmon). And while this is not a vegan or vegetarian cookbook, a litte note with a meat-free alternative would be great for those who want to try and cut out meat entirey when looking at environmentally friendly food.

An absolutely beautiful book by the founder of Stasher bags (an alternative to plastic zipper bags).

Divided into categories such as prep/supplies/environmental concerns, soups, sandwiches, snacks, grain bowls, and salads (the best chapter). Her spreads/dressings recipes seem to be the strongest, to me, and definitely are worth trying!!

I am not sure that many of the recipes would be appealing to my family, but if you are not looking to cook for children and instead you are looking for a great way to bring an at-home meal for lunch at work, this book would work well for you!

I received a free ARC as a reviewer for NetGalley.

Let's Fix Lunch! is so much more than a recipe book. It is a book of tips, resources, and it is also a handy reference to use in the reduce, reuse, recycle trend.

There are gorgeous photographs of every dish and they all made my mouth water. You'll want to try every recipe because every dish looks so delicious.

Let's Fix Lunch! is an excellent book to have in your kitchen library. It can be used not only for lunches, but just about any meal. Rated it five stars -- I loved it!

Let’s Fix Lunch was part lunch ideas and part becoming more away of how to reduce waste from lunch. I was interested in reading this book as I find lunch is the hardest meal of the day for me to find ideas and make healthy. There were a lot of pictures to go with the recipes, which I always find appealing in a cookbook. There are quite a few recipes I will try and help vary up from just your normal PB&J sandwiches for lunch. The end of the book gives tips on how to live a litter free life.

I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Very clever title. I see what you did there.

Loved the attention that was paid to reducing waste in meals as well as materials used to serve, store, and preserve food. Personally, I have never heard of food-grade silicone stasher bags that are a substitute for single use plastic bags like sandwich bags or snack bags. I am geeking-out-excited about this new food storage option. It's okay, judge me, I would, too. Then go out and get these bags. ;)
ONWARD!

The At-A-Glance icons are super helpful to understand if a recipe will meet your needs for that meal. Eco-tips are distributed throughout this book to help readers remain as litter-free and waste-free as possible. Detailed meal planning from one-day prep to recipes to sample meal plans are included. And...and.. and....ANDDDDD.... There is photography galore!!

Most notable recipe was the Chickpea Walnut Salad on Lavash. Please, too much awesome. Mind blown. While these recipes are fairly common lunches for Americans, they are re-imagined in a new light to focus on being economical, kid-friendly, planet-friendly while still remaining TASTY AF.

I cannot rave about this new release enough and will be purchasing in every format available.

Have you wanted to move towards a more sustainable lifestyle and don't know where to start? This book might be just what you are looking for. It has 2 sections of text on waste reduction and sustainability and a section of lunch recipes. The recipes are mostly fairly simple and encompass a wide variety of types of meals including some less common flavors (bibimap). Most recipes are "plant forward " and there are a number of vegan choices.

A few recipes made me scratch my head, like recipes for some simple sandwiches as well as a roast beef sandwich. The cattle industry is not generally thought of as a sustainable or green industry.

This book might be a bit basic for recipe collectors.

The pluses for this book -- lovely color photos of just about every recipe and a variety of eco-friendly meals. That said, there is no nutritional information for the recipes and many of them won't work for those on special diets. They're pretty standard American fare (meat, dairy, wheat, refined carbs...). The premise is that the meals can be eaten on the go at work or whatever, but many of them seemed like they should be eaten hot and wouldn't be hot this way. I don't know that I'd want a quinoa bowl with meats and veggies that was room temperature. Shrug. It frequently read like an ad for Stasher reusable bags (the author's company). It also didn't feel that eco-friendly at times, like the suggestion to reuse disposable bags to throw away dirty diapers. If we're going to be eco-friendly, how about we use cloth diapers, or at least mention the option.

All in all, it's a pretty book but seemed geared towards a very specific upper class clientele, not necessarily the rest of us who live a sustainable lifestyle all the time without fancy silicone bags or gourmet radishes.

I got this book, "Let's Fix Lunch" because I LOVE to cook & bake and I am also very interested in sustainability and eco-living, and since the description of this book in the listing said its, "An inspiring guide for anyone who wants to do their part to save the earth, Let's Fix Lunch! makes it simple to create a sustainable, waste-free home", I knew I had to get it.

Although this book has many tips on reducing waste and creating "litter-free" lunches, I have NOT yet been able to make any of the recipes in this book. Because due to the current coronavirus lockdown, it has been very difficult (especially since I am unable to drive due to disabilities and the local public transportation services which is minimal to non-existent even when there is NO lockdown has been shut down completely and grocery delivery services like Instacart, Shipt & PrimeNow have NO delivery slots available) to find the ingredients for the recipes. Even basic ingredients (like eggs, butter and flour) let alone more uncommon ingredients (like hazelnuts and tahini) seem to be out of stock at all nearby stores.

However, since I don't want to put off reviewing this cookbook until this coronavirus situation ends (whenever or if it even ever does!) I'm going to just post this review, and then if/when the lockdown ends, and I can get the ingredients, I will test some of these recipes and then come back and update this review.

In the meantime, I am giving this book 3 stars, NOT because I don't think it doesn't deserve better (because it probably or even likely does!) but because like I said, I am unable to test out the recipes right now. and so I don't want to give it either a high rating OR a low rating, but instead something neutral.

That being said, I really liked the various tips and suggestions to reduce waste, and the recipes look yummy, and I am looking forward to making some, many or even ALL of these dishes once the normal supply in the supermarkets & grocery stores is restored!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall I really enjoyed this book! First of all, I like the play on words in the title for fixing lunch. Not only does the book help us to prepare/fix lunch but to also fix the problem of plastic and other waste that is created by many of our lunch short cuts, like single serving snacks.

The recipes in the book are extremely appetizing, and there are wonderful tips for buying in bulk and prepping ahead, in addition to eco-friendly options for storage. I look forward to physically going back to the office in the future so I can whip up some of these delicious and creative recipes!

The only drawback I would say is that the book reads in some ways like an advertisement for Stasher. I realize the author is the owner of that company, and in many ways it's not unlike a restaurant owner/chef writing a book and using it to talk about their business, but there is at least one recipe which requires a Stasher bag to cook eggs for a fritatta sandwich, and I was slightly annoyed by the repetitive notes on storing in Stasher bags and such (even though I get it--I'm just being honest on my initial feelings as I read it).

I was definitely intrigued to look up the brand when reading through the book. I think the product looks amazing but it seems extremely expensive for regular folks. I found that a little disheartening after reading some great ideas and feeling excited about reducing plastic waste, and then realizing the book is built on a great product that may not be affordable for many people. With that said, I still may consider purchasing some in the future, but at the moment it's not really in my budget.

That issue aside, I think it's a really versatile book with a lot of great ideas to revamp lunch. Lunch is one of the hardest meals to plan for because it needs to travel well and be easy to reheat, or be good cold. I think the book did a great job in covering these issues while providing a variety of recipes for all different tastes.

This book is full of really lovely photos, delicious recipes and lots of eco tips. My confession is that lunch is one of my favorite meals of the day and this book had lots of great ideas. The recipes were very user friendly and most of the ingredients were items you have in the kitchen.

I tried the Persian Frittata and it was just great. It was full of flavor and quite easy to make. I also made the apple streusel bars that my son just loved. I can't wait to try more.

This is a great addition to your cookbook collection. Thanks to Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.

I am constantly looking for ways to keep my lunches fun and fresh and healthy -- this is the perfect cook book for just that. So many different options and variations that I will never again get bored with my lunches again. I loved the setup of this book - it made it very easy to read and use.

This was more than just a book of recipes, it also contains tips on how to cut down on environmental waste that the typical lunch would create. The pictures in this book were beautiful. And the recipes were interesting, creative, healthy and delicious!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This book is perfect for the times that we are living in now with everyone at home 24/7 and preparing 3 meals each day. This offered variety from my usual soup/sandwich menu. Gave a lot of ideas for lunches the whole family can enjoy.

These days, it can be hard to think of new ideas for lunch. Often, we settle for our wilted lettuce and tomato sandwiches' for the office and call it a day. With this in mind, I had high hopes for this book to give some new and inventive recipes, but also keep them relatively easy and manageable to make for an individual or a family portion! I also loved how it made the plant based recipes pretty accessible for even the most finicky of meat and picky eaters. The wonderful photos enticed me to the new recipes and each one that I tried truly delivered! My favorite one was definitely the Crispy BBQ Chickpeas!! So yummy!! Overall this was a wonderful recipes book that would be great if you're looking to change up or revolutionize your recipes rolodex!

Kat Nouri has given us an attractive and practical guide to preparing lunches for work, school, or home. Her guide is mainly geared to those who have little experience cooking or little knowledge of fresh food. Those who are just starting off in the kitchen are introduced to a wide range of ingredients (vegetables, grains, nuts, eggs, etc.) which can be used to prepare tasty lunches and are shown the various ways of incorporating them in a wide range of recipes. I like very much the table that shows how different ingredients can be used for making lunches throughout the week. Even those readers who are comfortable in the kitchen will find this table useful.. I also like that the recipes are fairly easy to follow and include both cool and warm dishes. I would give this book as a gift to young cooks and newly-weds to start them off in the kitchen on the right track.

I absolutely love every cookery book published by Chronicle Books, and Let's Fix Lunch! is a beautiful addition to their library.

With brilliant lists, meal plans and lifesaving tips, this how-to-save-the-planet-while-eating-lunch cookbook has just the right mix of basic but thorough.
The meals themselves are simple but inventive, and give great ideas of how to use the same everyday ingredients throughout the week in fresh and exciting ways.
Lunch can be a serious tripping point for those of us who are trying to go waste and plastic free, and I really welcome this book full of ideas for how to fix that.

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is new to the waste-free world, or anyone who is struggling to plan their lunches.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to review this gorgeous book.

I absolutely loved this cookbook! I’m a breast cancer thrives and cancer runs prevalently in my family, so the need of eating healthy is one of the most important things I strive for. This cookbook not only gives some great tasting recipes, but it also gives you sustainable and earth friendly tips about the items you use in the kitchen and in your life on a daily basis.

Great recipes, great insight and information as well as beautiful vibrant photos. 5 stars!! Totally recommend this book to everyone!

Yum, Yum, and Yum! These recipes are delicious and whip up in a flash. I have tried many plant based recipes through the years, but they either lacked flavor or seemed to be step, after step, after step and take far too much time to make. You also needn't worry about a plethora of ingredients that are hard to find or require a trip to a specialty market. My favorite feature by far was all the time saving tips and helpful hints for buying in bulk and meal prepping. I personally don't care much for meal prepping but this book had a very practical approach and made it feel like less of a chore. Overall I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to incorporate more plant based meals into their diet.

I requested this book on NetGalley as, like everyone else, I find it difficult to come up with lunch ideals, even when I'm working from home. I was hoping it would serve as inspiration and that I would be able to pick up some good recipes from it. Unfortunately, this cookbook wasn't really for me, although admittedly, this was probably no fault of the writer but more to do with my own tastes. At least half the recipes were meat-/fish-based, so as a vegetarian, I skipped straight past them. The vegetarian recipes weren't really anything groundbreaking and the only one I bookmarked to possibly try was for a spinach frittata. I'm sure there'll be people who enjoy this recipe book and find it really useful but that just wasn't the case for me.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Nat Nouri is the inventor of ‘Stasher’ , reusable silicone bags for lunches, food storage.
Her recipe book focuses on recipes to make for lunches, in an effort To reduce waste and eat healthy food. Her book also contains Quite a bit of content on reusable products, (Stasher) to reduce waste.

The book has beautiful, perhaps Instagram worthy, photographs and a variety of healthy lunch recipes. .

It fell a bit short for me sadly. The recipes were mostly the usual suspects found in lunch based recipes books, Cobb salad, Caesar salad, frittata, soups, The presentation was beautiful but I would have liked the book to be more user friendly. For example each recipe was for two people so for families creating lunches for the week everything would have to be doubled or tripled, there was no nutrition information for recipes, there was no prep and cooking time for recipes, which I find a dealbreaker for me. Also, if you don’t carefully read the recipe before cooking (a mistake I’m sure we have all made at some point) you could be caught out, for example one recipe used baked tofu stirred through at the end, but the baked tofu was a seperate recipe that looked like it took a good hour or more to make.

All in all, a pretty book, but not one I would go to personally.

I like the design of this book. Some of the recipes look delicious, and I have to try them. I like the idea of a more sustainable home and cooking, and I appreciate vegetarian food. I like the fact that you can prepare food in advance. But I prefer simple recipes with simple ingredients, and I would expect more vegetarian recipes. Anyway, this is a good cookbook.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this! All opinions are my own.

This is such a fun cookbook.
The photos are absolutely beautiful and eye-catching.
You can tell that a lot of love want into making both the recipes and this book as a whole.
I love how intentional this cookbook is. The pictures are mouth-watering and it is more than just a cookbook - there are so many tips and tricks to have a litter free lunch. This is a cookbook with a conscious!
The recipes look delicious and I can't wait to try a few of them out and put these litter free tips into practice.

This is a very sweet cookbook filled with bright, delicious-looking photos and easy-to-understand recipes. However, for most people, all of the make-ahead cooking makes this book not as helpful as it could be. When many people are looking for lunch to bring to the office, to eat at home, or to pack for school lunches, they want something super fast to throw together. These recipes take so much forethought that they create so more work and use more energy than grabbing an apple and making a quick PB&J. It doesn't so much fix lunch, as make lunch a more complicated process.

As someone who loves to reuse, recycle and overall reduce waste as much as I can, I really appreciate this book and all of the tips Kat Nouri provides! We truly can prevent so much waste by shopping for food the smart way and from the kitchen alone. The recipes look delicious (I definitely will be trying a lot more of these in the next few weeks) and the pictures are simply stunning. Love this book.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Writtten by the founder of Stasher. The recipes seem okay and reader gets a meal plan for the week. The reader gets some other on the go tips.

What I loved about these recipes is that they are simple and made with easy-to-find ingredients for all kinds of diets. The recipes have a simple format and almost all include a photograph. Each recipe also includes a small eco tip that is great for cutting down on food waste. Most of the ingredients used throughout the book are common and readily available at the grocery store. However, the recipes are rather ordinary and nothing stood out for me.

First of all, mad props to Stasher for donating proceeds from this book to No Kid Hungry. Leading with that knowledge made the whole rest of the reading experience all the more enjoyable.

Also, love the bright and colorful photography in this book that makes meal prep feel far less gloomy and utilitarian than the norm.

Despite the vested interest of the book’s author, the product placement never felt overbearing - and they offered alternatives to their products in many instances, too. Some of these reuse tips sure seem counterintuitive in the age of COVID, though... will be interesting to see how that all plays out and what’s acceptable again in the healthier future.

Lunch is such a difficult meal around my house! We aren’t sandwich people and don’t always have leftovers. I appreciate the variety of ideas and recipes in this book. I’m anxious to try the baked tofu and the BBQ chickpeas. They both sound like wonderful building blocks. We’re all preparing so much more food at home these days, it’s good to have new recipes and ideas.

Nat Nouri is the inventor of ‘Stasher’ a reusable silicone bag for lunches and food storage. Her recipe book, as the title implies, focuses on recipes to make for lunch. Combined with the recipes is the author’s effort to reduce waste and eat healthy food. The book itself promotes the author’s reusable products to reduce waste. Nouri has divided up the recipes into the following chapters: On-the-Go Snacks, Sauces and Condiments, Soups and Salads, Sandwiches, and Grains and Pastas. Recipes are also labeled with a symbol for vegetarian, freezable, school-lunch friendly, make ahead ideas along with rice and pasta bases that are paired with earlier recipes for sauces.

The recipes were mostly the usual found in recipes books, Cobb salad, Caesar salad, Frittatas, and soups. Sadly there was no nutrition information and the recipes were just for two. I was a bit put out by the author thinking that earth friendly packaging for lunch is new. Most people who enjoy making food usually are careful about waste in general. Unfortunately this book came up short on many fronts.

I would like to thank Chronicle books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Let's Fix Lunch! is a fun, beautifully photographed cookbook by the founders of Stasher. I love the focus on healthy, simple lunches (something often ignored in the world of cookbooks) as well as it's emphasis on sustainability. The book is easy to navigate and provides great tips for meal prepping and planning - perfect for busy families! As a food blogger, I was absolutely in love with the bright and sunny photographs. The recipes are simple in the best way. I loved the Sesame Coconut Granola and the delicious Pesto Chicken Sandwich. I have bookmarked so many more recipes to try and I can't wait to dive in!

A lovely cookbook that just might become my new favorite. Plenty of simple, easy to follow recipes that are accompanied by gorgeous photographs. There are also many eco-friendly tips included to help ease you into a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. This message is never heavy handed, but does serve as a gentle reminder that we can all do better.

Thank you to Chronicle Books and NetGalley for providing this copy in exchange for a review.
